Illness and accidents

Protocol if a student is injured or becomes ill during school hours.

The teacher in charge at the time will alert the Secretary/Principal’s office to assess the severity and urgency of the situation.

If it is a mild, transient illness: dizziness, vomiting, headache, etc.

• The family are advised to come to collect the student.
• If noone can come the student will remain in the school. Under no circumstances can the student leave the premises alone.

Students must go to hospital for:

• Minor injuries (contusions, sprains, minor trauma, etc.)

The school has an agreement with the  "Centro Médico Molins de Rei" (tel. 93.668.00.04)situated in Paseo del Terraplén, 97.

Serious injuries (accidents, dislocations, severe bleeding, cardiorespiratory problems, fainting, seizures, severe panic attacks, asthma attacks, allergy attack, or any situation that requires immediate action:

• Do not move the patient.

• Call 112 (EMERGENCY SERVICES).This service will send an ambulance or a doctor if necessary.

• Call the family and tell them what happened and that the student is being brought to hospital, if they cannot come, a member of the school will accompany the student and meet with the family at the hospital.

• No member of the school may take a private car to accompany a student to hospital.

Insurance:

All school students are insured in the event of an accident.
A statement willbe written by the secretary’s office and delivered directly to the appropriate hospital or sent later.
